---- that was probably not helpful.. but | What is a Cirque du Soleil audition like? Do i have a chance? I've seen ads for Cirque Du Soleil auditions in Washington D.C. on June 4th for dancers (including classically trained!!!)
the thing is, they are seeking professionals.... i've never been a "paid" professional because i'm still in college. but i do have lots of experience performing infront of audiences.
do you think, perhaps, they would apprentice me?
i'm determined to have some kind of career, even a brief one, in the performing arts. i feel that i need to use my body, it is my instrument. even if i can't last in a ballet company, i just need to be able to express everything through movement. anything else feels unnatural to me.
i'm 21 years old now. and i've been taking classical russian ballet my entire life (since 5 years old, but classes weren't very serious until i turned about 8 or 9)
i've also done a few years of theatre jazz and hip hop (i was essentially thrown into the most advanced classes for a dance ensemble in my studio at the time, i was forced to catch up)
and i did gymnastics on and off through my teens.
though most of my time has been spend on ballet, i'm a very fast learner. and i'm fearless when it comes to tumbling, and heights... for example: i was able to learn several different tricks on "silks" in under an hour (it was a one time thing, but i had a blast and it came very naturally to me because of my flexibility)
from what i've stated, does auditioning sound like a stupid idea?
i'm worried that i'm going to be the underdog because i'm not a professional.
part of me feels that very serious ballerinas would not be auditioning for this kind of thing, but the other half of me thinks that there will be other dancers that will make me look like an amateur.
i'm not totally sure what to expect...
i have a lot of different skills, but i'm not sure how to go about showcasing all of them. espescially something like ballet...
please ANY advice would be greatly appreciated | Find their web page and contact information.
